Dr. Seema Steffens was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and raised in Mississauga, where she has lived for over 40 years. A high-achieving student, she graduated early with honors from Port Credit Secondary School, earning the Senior Proficiency Award and numerous other accolades. Her exceptional academic performance led to an academic scholarship at the University of Toronto (U of T).
At U of T, Dr. Steffens excelled, earning a place on the Dean's Honour List and gaining early admission to the Faculty of Dentistry after just one year of undergraduate studies. She completed her dental degree in 1989 as one of the youngest graduates in her class. Throughout her academic journey, she was recognized with multiple awards for excellence in proficiency, math, science, history, leadership, and more, and was even a table tennis champion.
Dr. Steffens is deeply committed to helping others, a value she embraced early on by tutoring hundreds of students during high school and university and volunteering for over seven years at the Trillium Health Centre’s Surgical and Continuing Care Wards.
Today, Dr. Steffens is a dedicated dental professional serving patients in Mississauga. She provides high-quality, patient-centered care and shares her expertise by teaching and mentoring dental students as a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. She also supervises dental student examinations and serves as a dental legal consultant for several Toronto-based firms. Additionally, she volunteers with the Ontario Dental Association, serving as a session chair for professional development courses.
Dr. Steffens and her team give back to the community by organizing initiatives like providing complimentary dental care, food, and gifts for families in need during the holiday season. She continues to mentor students and actively participates in community events.
Outside her professional life, Dr. Steffens is a devoted wife and mother. She has been married for over 30 years to her high school sweetheart and cherishes time with her two children and their family dog. Family is at the heart of her life and serves as the foundation of her personal and professional success.
In her spare time, Dr. Steffens enjoys playing the flute, cooking and baking healthier meals, reading, and staying active through biking, badminton, and table tennis. She also loves walking with her family and dog.
Dr. Steffens is passionate about continuous learning, regularly enhancing her clinical expertise through research and professional development courses. Her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence drive her to provide the best possible care for her patients.
